Past Simple

when a definite point in time is mentioned when talking about the past

for an event which had been arranged but which didn't happen

(planlanan ama gerçekleşmeyen olaylarda.)

Past Perfect

for an event which happened before another in the past

(İki olaydan önce olanı anlatırken.)

Past Perfect Progressive

to emphasize the continuous activity which happened before another in the past

(Geçmişteki sürekliliği anlatırken.)

They had been studying for hours when they suddenly realized it was midnight.

(Geceyarısı olduğunu anladıklarında saatlerce çalışmaktaydılar.)

for an intention

(Gelecek Zaman –niyet anlatırken.)

Future progressive

for an event which will be in progress at a certain time in the future

(Gelecekte devamlı olan olaylarda.)

Future perfect

for an event which will be over not later than a certain time in the future

(-mış olacaklar –belli bir vakti geçmeyecek.)

They'll have done their homework by tomorrow.

(Ödevlerini yarına kadar bitirmiş olacaklar – yani yarından sonraya kalmayacak)

Future perfect progressive

for something still in progress but which will be complete not later than a certain time in the future

(O vakte kadar o işi yapıyor olacak.)

He'll have been working for the bank for 30 years next summer.

(Gelecek yaz bankada 30 yıldır çalışıyor olacak – Yani 30.yılı olacak o bankada.)
